Chaos and Love
What a wild start to 2026. I can feel it in my bones. My body feels quiet, but braced for more. Contained and guarded energy, like a shield around my heart. We’ve seen the violence of empire accelerate, the chaos of threatened alliances, the fear in our own hearts getting louder. This is painful, confusing, chaotic. Like a tidal wave clearing everything in its path, not knowing what will remain. We can call this collapse, or death, or a time of revolution.
We’ve also seen that our resolve to stand together in solidarity has remained robust and continues to grow. We’ve seen communities come together to help each other, to play together, to create together. Neighbor protecting neighbor. People protecting the land. People speaking what is true. The human heart has a deep capacity for courage.
I find my attention slowing down and moving towards my own community: How are my neighbors? Have I seen them this week? Let’s help that woman carry her bags. Look at those children playing with total delight. Why don’t we sit and have some tea together? I find myself wanting to look every stranger in the eye, smile, and say hello. The pull towards each other is stronger than our fear.
I know you can feel it all too - maybe it’s chaos, maybe it’s a quieter constriction, maybe it’s confusion, sorrow, helplessness, or resolve. Maybe it’s a deep knowing where you’ll extend yourself in Love. Maybe it’s that everything beautiful brings you to tears - how quickly our lives sweep by, how lovely to be so present, right now. However, these energies are showing up for you; we are all here together, holding rage and grief and possibility and beauty as bedfellows. You are not alone. We are not alone. If you find yourself believing and fearing that you are alone, dig deeper. Push against that story. Reach out to someone. Ask for help from people, or spirit, or the Earth herself. And pay attention, put your ear to the ground; Life will remind you of your belonging. Always.
I want to name this: your response to the human-caused chaos and violence in the world, whatever it is, is not pathological. You are not broken. You are not wrong. Your response is a signal. And it’s signaling something important. Notice it. Notice what makes you angry and what brings you grief. Notice what brings you peace. Notice where your life is asking you to rest and where it’s asking you to activate. When we consciously move towards our experience as sacred, we help give birth to the Soul of the World.
